ON THE WEEK OF THE TRIUMPH OF ORTHODOXY, THE PATRIARCHAL EXARCH CELEBRATED THE LITURGY IN THE CATHEDRAL

On March 9, the first week of Great Lent, the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe, celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great and the rite of the Triumph of Orthodoxy in the Cathedral Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Paris.
The archpastor was assisted by the secretary of the Korsun diocesan administration, priest Maxim Politov, hieromonk Ireneus (Gribov), rector of the Spiritual and Educational Center named after St. Genevieve of Paris, vice-rector of the center, hieromonk Peter (Smirnov), clergy of the cathedral: hieromonk John (Guaita), priest Georgy Sheshko, priest Antony Sidenko, protodeacon Nikolai Rebinder, deacon Roman Onika and deacon Vyacheslav Li.
During the proskomedia, two lambs were prepared for the Presanctified Liturgy of the second week of Great Lent.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the bishop’s choir under the direction of Marina Politova.
After the litany of fervent supplication, the Patriarchal Exarch offered a prayer for the restoration of peace in Ukraine.
After the singing of the zadostoynik “O tebe rejoices”, Metropolitan Nestor ordained the student of the Spiritual and Educational Center, subdeacon Maxim Belyaev, as a deacon.
The sermon before the communion of the laity was delivered by Hieromonk John (Guaita).
After the Liturgy, the Patriarchal Exarch and the clergy who served with him performed a solemn prayer service on the Sunday of Orthodoxy.
After which the archpastor addressed those gathered with a word of edification, in which he told the flock why the holiday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy is still relevant today.
