About our metropolitan

His Eminence Nestor, Metropolitan of Korsun and Western Europe, is the Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe and rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral.

Metropolitan Nestor (Sirotenko) was born on September 4, 1974 in Moscow into a family of civil servants. He graduated from high school in 1991.

From 1991 to 1995, he studied at the evening department of the Faculty of Computer Science at the Historical and Archival Institute (Russian State Humanitarian University).

From 1991 to 1995, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Russian Federation. At the same time, he served as an altar boy at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the village of Peredelkino near Moscow.

In 1995, he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary.

On March 28, 1998, Archbishop Evgeny of Vereya, rector of the Moscow Theological Schools, tonsured him a monk with the name Nestor in honor of St. Nestor the Chronicler.

On April 24, 1998, Archbishop Evgeny of Vereya ordained him a hierodeacon in the Pokrovsky Church of the Moscow Theological Academy.

In 1999, he entered the Moscow Theological Academy.

On November 29, 1999, Archbishop Evgeny of Vereya ordained him a hieromonk.

In 1999, he was sent to study at the St. Sergius Theological Institute in Paris. In 2000-2004, as a student at the St. Sergius Theological Institute in Paris, he carried out pastoral obedience in the Archdiocese of Russian Parishes of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Western Europe.

In 2001, Archbishop Sergius (Konovalov) of Eukarpiya appointed him rector of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Asnieres (France).

In 2004, he graduated from the Theological Institute and as an external student from the Moscow Theological Academy.

On March 26, 2004, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was sent to the disposal of Archbishop Innocent of Korsun.

Since May 10, 2004, he has been acting rector of the Cathedral of the Three Hierarchs in Paris.

On January 15, 2008, he was appointed dean of the parishes of the Korsun Diocese in France.

He was elevated to the rank of hegumen by Easter 2008.

On June 1, 2008, he was appointed rector of the Cathedral of the Three Hierarchs in Paris.

Since February 2008, on behalf of Archbishop Innocent of Korsun, he led the working group of the Korsun Diocese for the construction of a new cathedral church in Paris.

Since 2009 — Chairman of the Disciplinary Council and teacher of pastoral theology at the Paris Theological Seminary.

By decision of the Holy Synod of May 31, 2010, he was elected Vicar of the Korsun Diocese with the title of Kafsky (Journal No. 44).

On August 28, 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All elevated him to the rank of archimandrite.

He was named bishop on September 4, 2010, at the working Patriarchal residence in Chisty Lane in Moscow. He was ordained on September 5 during the Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The divine services were led by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of December 24, 2010 (Journal No. 119), he was appointed Bishop of Korsun with the assignment of archpastoral care of parishes in Italy.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of July 16, 2013 (Journal No. 93), he was relieved of the management of the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in Italy.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of December 28, 2018 (Journal No. 105), he was appointed Bishop of Madrid and Lisbon.

On January 3, 2019, during the Liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill elevated him to the rank of archbishop.

By decision of the Holy Synod of June 7, 2022 (Journal No. 61), he was entrusted with the temporary administration of the Korsun Diocese.

By decision of the Holy Synod of October 13, 2022 (Journal No. 96), he was appointed His Grace of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, while temporarily retaining control of the Spanish-Portuguese Diocese.

On November 27, 2022, during the Patriarchal Liturgy in the Moscow Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God on Kulishki, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill elevated him to the rank of Metropolitan.
