THE NATIVITY OF THE MOST HOLY THEOTOKOS ON 21 SEPTEMBER

The church year has only just begun, and its first Great Feast turns us back to the very beginning of our salvation. On 21 September the Orthodox Church celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the birth of the Virgin Mary to the righteous Joachim and Anna, who waited many years for a child and never stopped hoping.

We remember this event as a quiet and family beginning of what would later be made known to the whole world.
