GETTING TO THE CATHEDRAL ON 25 AND 26 SEPTEMBER

24 September 2026 Announcements

On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2026, because of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Paris, the Paris Police Prefecture is putting substantial restrictions in place on traffic and public transport in the streets around our cathedral. If you are planning to come to the cathedral on either day, please check your route in advance.

Saturday 26 September 2026 will be the more difficult. From 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., traffic will be closed on quai Jacques Chirac, where the cathedral stands, as well as on quai Branly, pont de l’Alma, avenue Rapp, rue de l’Université, the Champ-de-Mars and the surrounding streets.

Public transport is affected as well. Alma-Marceau metro station (line 9) will be closed from 9.00 a.m. on Friday and from 5.30 a.m. on Saturday. Pont de l’Alma station on RER C will be closed from 5.30 a.m. on Saturday. Bus routes 42, 63, 80 and 92 will not serve this area on Saturday.

On Friday 25 September 2026 the restrictions apply in the 7th arrondissement, to the east of the cathedral. A number of streets around the Invalides, avenue de Suffren and avenue de Ségur will be closed from 1.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The metro stations École Militaire (line 8), Ségur and Duroc (line 10) and Saint-François-Xavier (line 13) will be closed.

The restrictions concern vehicle traffic and parking. Pedestrians are not barred from the surrounding streets, but on days such as these the Police Prefecture may impose temporary restrictions.

Before setting out, we recommend checking the latest information on the websites of the 7th arrondissement town hall and of the Paris transport operator RATP. Details may change up to the last moment.
