WE VENERATE YOUR CROSS, O MASTER

25 September 2026 Announcements

On 27 September the Orthodox Church celebrates the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, one of the Great Feasts. It was established in memory of the finding of the Cross in Jerusalem in the time of St Helen, Equal-to-the-Apostles, and is linked to the consecration of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in 335.

You are welcome to join us for the services in our cathedral:

Saturday 26 September, 5 p.m. All-Night Vigil. The Cross will be brought out to the centre of the cathedral at Matins for veneration
Sunday 27 September, 8 a.m. early Divine Liturgy and at 10 a.m. late Divine Liturgy

The Cross will remain in the centre of the cathedral for veneration until the leave-taking of the feast on 4 October.

Please note. On Saturday 26 September substantial restrictions on traffic and public transport are in force around the cathedral. Quai Jacques Chirac is closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Alma-Marceau metro station (line 9) and Pont de l’Alma on RER C are closed. If you are coming to the Vigil, please work out your route in advance. Details are in our announcement of yesterday.
